Purchasing a License
Binnenland Fonts are commercial software, which means that anyone using them must have a license to use them. All Binnenland Fonts are sold exclusively through this website. Licenses may not be shared, nor may Font files be passed on to any third party including clients and contractors. Each company or individual must obtain their own license for the fonts they are using.
If clients wish to use the Fonts as well, they must obtain their own license to do so. Design agencies can procure and license Fonts on behalf of their clients in accordance with the terms set out in our EULA.
License Transfer
The transfer of a license to a third party is not permitted. Any subsidiary, service or production company, design agency, freelancer and/or any other third party performing work on behalf of the Licensee and actively using the Font Software must purchase their own separate license directly from Binnenland. The only exception that allows the sharing of the Font Software with third parties is the Company License with integrated Sublicense.
License Upgrades
You are required to upgrade your license if your use of the Fonts increases beyond the agreed usage. If you want to increase the number of users for a Desktop License or extend the web traffic setting for a Web License or for Applications, just send us an e-mail with your current license receipt and the requested new license size. We will update your license according to your needs. The amount of your previous order will be deducted from the price of the license upgrade.
License Updates
We are regularly updating and enhancing our typeface releases. If not stated otherwise, all purchased Binnenland fonts/licenses can be updated at no additional cost. Just contact us with your order number and we will send you an updated download link.
General
The Basic User License allows you to install and use a Font on up to 5 workstations, within one company or institution. If you wish to install or use a Font on more workstations or make it available to more than 5 users through a local-area network or an in-house font library, just select the appropriate number of workstations when ordering online. Requests for a larger number than 50 workstations or for more complex licensing solutions, please contact us at info@binnenland.ch. The licence grants perpetual rights, but may not be used outside of their specified usage paramaters, or shared with other entities, companies or third parties.
Use of the Fonts
This License is for desktop use, to design, produce and edit printable and digital products. This includes the use of the Fonts for printed matter of all kinds, such as books, periodicals, brochures, flyers etc. This license covers all implementation where the Font is converted to a vector graphic or to an image, such as a logo or use in filminserts. To publish documents with embedded Fonts (e.g. on Web, Mobile or Applications) you need to purchase the appropriate License.
The license grants perpetual rights, but may not be shared with other entities, companies or third parties. For companies, with a request for higher rate of licensed Fonts, we offer additional rights for Sublicense and embedding of the Fonts. Please contact us at info@binnenland.ch.
OpenType and TrueType Formats
All our Fonts are optimised for standard graphic design applications like InDesign, Photoshop, Figma, Affinity, QuarkXPress etc. and are delivered as OpenType (OTF) and as TrueType (TTF) desktop font formats. OpenType features are supported in applications such as Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator, Affinity, QuarkXPress etc. and Microsoft Office. More details in Section OpenType Features
Even if the OpenType (OTF) file formats are cross-platform and will work on both Mac and Windows operating systems, for Windows Office applications we recommend installing the TrueType Font. They are routed with the current standard of TrueType hintings.
Webfont License for Selfhosting
General
For all advantages of using web fonts on desktop and mobile browsers, all our typefaces are available in .woff, and .woff2 format for self-hosting on your web server implemented via @fontface.
Price Structure
The Binnenland web font licensing is easy to handle: you simply pay for the assumed number of ‘visitors per month’ you need. The pricing for the amount of licenses will be charged once, without additional annual payments. For each Font you want to use, you purchase a package of visitors/per month that you gradually use over time. Your package does not expire. You only need to upgrade your package if the visitors/p.m. on your website increases. In this case you need to enlarge your license package to the next level.
The license-scale is divided into 7 levels from 10K up to 10M unique visitors per month, detailed prices per Font can be looked up in the Shop Section for each Typeface. These licenses are available for purchase directly from our website.
Pricing by unique visitors is a more accurate and fair way to charge a service. When someone visits your website, Binnenland Fonts are downloaded and cached by the user’s browser for 30 days. If you are not sure how much traffic you will receive on a new website, just start small. If you are wildly successful, order an upgrade.
If you need a higher range of monthly visitors, please contact us. We also offer upon request Web-Multiuser-Licenses for unlimited domains (URL) and subdomains with perpetual license based on unique visitors per month. For detailed information please send us an email.
Website Domain
Please note that the Web License for a Font is tied to one specific Domain (URL). Subdomains and variations of the domain name are included in the price as long as they are all administrated by the same person or company.
Our webfonts are delivered as WOFF and WOFF2. Due to WOFF’s broad acceptance and support by all modern browsers, EOT and SVG formats are no longer relevant or required. SVG is highly unstable with larger font files. Should you need one of these formats for a specific application, we will supply you with your format of choice upon request and for an additional fee. Just contact us with your project requirements.

Use of the Fonts
The Application License enables font embedding into apps for iOS, Android or Windows Mobile platforms, for styling dynamic, static, or editable text, or in an electronic document such as an e-book. This includes the use of Binnenland Fonts in native web or hybrid apps on mobile or stationary devices, applications (for example personal computers, smart phones, entertainment systems, game consoles, instruments), or in electronic documents, such as e-magazines or e-books.
Price Structure
The License is calculated for one limited application title, perpetual. You pay for the assumed number of embeddings according to the number of Fonts used. Therefore we have created 7 different license packages: up to 1K, up to 5M downloads or installations. These licenses are available for purchase directly from our website. Please indicate the title of the dedicated application at the order process. The Font format is OTF or according to your required Font format.

What We Offer
In addition to our basic license models, we also offer licenses for more complex licensing solutions specifically created for the needs and requirements of larger companies with multiple font usages for corporate clients. The license may be internally transferable to several physical locations within a company, holding for unlimited or a dedicated numbers of installations, including bonded sublicense.
This license provides a variety of applications in connection with advertising, promotion and other exploitation, without a connected and defined medium. Also the embedding of the fonts in Microsoft Office documents for external users may be included in the offer.

Personalised Font through Name Change
If you wish a name change without an additional modification of the typeface, then let us know the desired font name and we will generate your personally named font. The use of these fonts is subject to the same licence conditions as all fonts available on our website, with the only difference that no one else can license the font under the same name. In addition to the corresponding license costs, the renaming of the fonts, the checking of the new font files and the administrative costs of archiving are charged.
Personalised Font through a Modification
You would like minor modifications to a typeface from our library, for example the replacement of one or two significant characters, in order to give a product or your company an individual appearance? These fonts are labelled with an addition to the name or with a freely selectable new name. In addition to the license costs according to the volume of use, the costs for the design service of the modification will be calculated. There are also costs for the administrative effort of archiving and checking the new font files.
Rights of use for personalised Fonts
This model of font licensing is by media and units, applies to all font products offered on our website. These license costs are calculated based on the licensing model Print/Desktop (number of installations on computers), Web (number of unique visitors in one month) and App (number of installations or downloads). These costs are unique and unlimited in time.
Customised and Custom Fonts
Custom fonts are either developed from scratch or they are based on an existing font from our library and are fully adapted to the client's needs. These fonts are unique and stand out with a unique selling point. Ideally suited as part of a corporate design or branding or to give an editorial product its individual presence. The License Holder has unique rights of use and is free to determine the use of the Fonts by third parties. The rights of use can be licensed without restrictions in terms of location, time and media as well as for a specific area of application. In addition, there is the possibility of a time-limited license (at least 3 years), which reduces the costs accordingly.
In the case of a time-limited licence, all rights of use and exploitation of the created custom font will revert to Binnenland as the copyright holder after the expiry of the time period.
We also offer start-ups the option of time-shared cost charging. Design and administrative services will be charged when the font files are handed over. The corresponding costs of the rights of use can be paid after a period of use of 3 years. This way the company has less initial costs and time to finance the use of the font with the growing business success.
Rights of use for Custom Fonts
The rights of use for custom fonts are valid for the specified period of time and media areas. The copyright always remains at Binnenland.
The volume and costs of the rights of use are calculated on the basis of the economic relevance of the company. This economic relevance is divided into four levels in our calculation: Business, Enterprise, Global and Universal.
The use is therefore independent of how many computers the font is installed on or how many visits a website has. The rights of use can be individually resolved in terms of time, place and media.
Adaptation of the rights of use to growth: As the company grows, so does the use of typefaces and the effectiveness of the type used. The scale of use can be adapted to the growth of the company at any time and extended to a next higher level.
